Internet speed grew by 35% this year

March 19, Fineko/abc.az. According to the February report by global broadband & mobile network analysis company Ookla, broadband Internet speeds in Azerbaijan increased by 35% and exceeded an average of 37.32 Mbit/s.

The main reason for increase in Internet speed in Azerbaijan is the infrastructure work carried out within project Online Azerbaijan, implemented by the Ministry of Digital Development & Transport.

ABC.AZ reports that Elvin Abbasov, the chairman of board of the Association of the Information & Communication Technology Industry of Azerbaijan, said about this in a statement.

Within the project, launched in 2021, 71% of households and businesses in the country and 84% in Baku received access to broadband Internet:

"In January 2024, 70,000 households and businesses received access to broadband Internet, in February – 94,000. Overall, about 2.1 million households have access to broadband Internet.”
