March 15, Fineko/abc.az. A logistics center and an airport are being built in the Alat Free Economic Zone, which was first established in Azerbaijan, along with manufacturing enterprises.
ABC.AZ reports that work has already begun on the construction of an international cargo airport that meets modern standards.
After the completion of construction work, the airport will start operating in the 1st quarter of 2026.
The annual cargo capacity of the airport will grow to 500,000 tons at the initial stage and up to 1.5 million tons later.
The airport will primarily provide air cargo transportation to enterprises operating in the Free Zone, as well as serve other persons.
The land plot with an area of 719 hectares, determined by the General Plan of the Alat Free Economic Zone, is located in three separate territories above international transport corridors and near the Baku International Trade Sea Port.
