In February, passenger traffic at Baku airport grew by 51%

March 7, Fineko/abc.az. The Heydar Aliyev International Airport continues to increase passenger traffic, serving more than 471,000 passengers in February 2024.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to airport’s press service that this is 50.7% more against February 2023, when 312 thousand passengers were transported.

In February, 33 airlines, 13 of which are low-cost airlines, made 3,853 flights.

50.5% of passenger traffic on international routes accounted for foreign airlines, while the rest was carried by the national air carrier. Foreign airlines handled more than 215,000 passengers, and Azerbaijan Airlines handled 211,000 passengers. More than 44,000 passengers were transported in the direction of Nakhchivan. In addition, the number of transit passengers increased by 106% compared with February 2023 and reached 25,000 people.

This February, the most popular international destinations from Baku airport were Istanbul, Abu Dhabi, Tbilisi, Dubai and Moscow, where more than 228,000 passengers were served.
