February 15, Fineko/abc.az. After the phased introduction of tax incentives for cars with electric and hybrid engines, as well as chargers, starting in 2019, an increase in imports of electric vehicles is observed in Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports that Acting Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev said this at Baku forum "The tax system in a new period of development: strategic goals for sustainable economy".

According to Babayev, the country imported 20-fold more electric vehicles in 2023 than in 2021.

"At that, by offering benefits to car owners under the recently adopted recycling program for old and unusable vehicles, local car production, environmental sustainability and recycling are encouraged," the acting minister said.
