February 6, Fineko/abc.az. 10 container block trains were sent from Chinese province of Xi'an to Azerbaijan for January 2024, including three with transit cargo and seven with imported cargo, ABC.AZ reports with reference to Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY).

One of the block trains sent in transit mode was delivered to the ports of Georgia 10 days after departure from the Chinese-Kazakh border. The transit cargo consisted mainly of technical equipment and was unloaded from ships directly onto ADY trains, then sent to the Black Sea port city of Poti (Georgia).

In January 2024, 615,000 tons of transit cargo were transported. This is the highest figure in the last 10 years.

The time of multimodal transportation of imported goods after the start of their movement from the Chinese-Kazakh border was eight days. The cargo was unloaded from the ships directly onto the ADY block trains and delivered to the appropriate destinations.

Currently, six more container block trains are running from China to Azerbaijan, four of which are with imported cargo, and two with transit cargo. Imported goods are to be delivered to their destinations within eight days and transit goods within 10 days.
