February 5, Fineko/abc.az. In January, the revenues of the Suez Canal almost halved amid attacks by Yemeni Houthis on ships.
ABC.AZ reports, quoting Osama Rabia, the head of the administration of the water supply network, on the air of Egyptian TV channel ON.
He said that the annual income has decreased by 46%.
"Last January, revenue amounted to $804 million, and this year – $428 million," Rabia said.
The number of ships passing through the channel per month decreased by 36% against January 2023.
In November 2023, the Houthis in northern Yemen announced that they would attack all ships associated with Israel and would not allow them to pass through the waters of the Red Sea.
