February 1, Fineko/abc.az. In the modern world, harmful substances emitted by vehicles play an important role in air pollution. Due to the dynamic development of the economy, vehicles are the main source of pollutants into the atmosphere in Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports that Ayten Seyidova, the head of the Department of Environmental Safety Analysis & Assessment of the Ministry of Ecology & Natural Resources, said this at a roundtable dedicated to the disposal of vehicles, the current situation and upcoming tasks.

She noted that the issue of recycling old cars in our country is of particular importance from ecological angle. The main purpose of recycling is to remove environmentally unusable cars from circulation, send their individual parts for recycling, and make them harmless to the environment.

She stressed that due to growth of economic activity, the use of motor vehicles has increased significantly in recent years. She noted that most of the cars imported into our country are old and do not meet the requirements:

"The growing number of vehicles and their unacceptable technical condition further increase the impact on the environment."
