January 18, Fineko/abc.az. Work is underway on the construction of a highway linking the main part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic with Iran and a bridge across the Araz River.
The Agency of Highways informs that in compliance with the presidential order on further construction on the connection of highway Goradiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Agbend with Iran, the Agency continues construction on the territory.
The work has been fulfilled by 80%, and construction of a 374-meter-long and 27.6-meter-wide automobile bridge across the Araz River has begun within the project.
The road bridge will serve to increase transit cargo transportation through the territory of the two countries and simplify entry and exit to the NAR. The daily capacity of the bridge will be 1,100 freight vehicles.
