January 18, Fineko/abc.az. No violations of antimonopoly legislation have been revealed in the activity of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL).

ABC.AZ reports, quoting Jafar Babayev, deputy head of the State Service for Antimonopoly & Consumer Market Supervision at the Ministry of Economy.

Babayev noted that, in addition to AZAL, a number of foreign airlines operate in the country, and citizens have a choice: "AZAL flies to limited destinations, while foreign companies fly to other countries more often."

He noted that proposals had been made to improve this area:

"It has been proposed to transfer a number of airports in the regions to the management of foreign companies or to attract an additional airline in order to avoid the formation of local government. We hope in the future this will be taken into account, and citizens will be able to buy cheaper tickets."
