December 22, Fineko/abc.az. Currently, the relevant state body of Georgia has signed an act on the official commissioning of the first stage of work on the expansion of railway project Baku-Tbilisi-Kars, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Tural Abbasli, the head of the Construction Project Management Department at Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY).

"We’ve also finished Akhalkalaki railway station," he said.

Abbasli added that the 2nd and 4th stages of the project will be completed and commissioned by the end of this year.

"Work is underway on 3rd stage and completion of work at Akhalkalaki station complex. Work is ongoing in Akhalkalaki to replace wheelsets for various purposes, complete construction of a residential building, including a large complex with more than 100 buildings. Work has already begun on creation of a joint venture to ensure efficiency of operations. It is planned to finish the project as a whole in the 1st quarter of 2024," Abbasli said.
