December 18, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministry of Digital Development & Transport has presented a program for transformation of mobility in Azerbaijan.
ABC.AZ reports that the presentation in this regard was conducted by Deputy Minister Rahman Gummetov.
He noted that the work done this year in the field of mobility in the transport sector of Azerbaijan related mainly to legislation.
"However, the taxi service was also in the spotlight. Over the past period, a number of laws have been amended. After that, changes to the sub-items are expected. Then the application of the new legislation will begin," he said.
The deputy minister added that new projects will be launched in the near future:
"We have already created a digital twin of Baku. We have also started simulating more than 20 projects. A new network of bike paths will be created in Baku. The new challenges are to make the city human-oriented, to encourage the use of micro-mobility vehicles. Taking into account these trends, the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency under the Ministry has identified development of micromobility as one of the main areas of activity. The mobility project also took into account small wheeled vehicles – bicycles and scooters. At the first stage, a 7 km long bike path will be built in Baku. Work is underway to create an appropriate infrastructure for pedestrian traffic."
