November 22, Fineko/abc.az. The number of new automobiles registered in the EU countries reached 855,484 - 14.6% more than a year earlier, ABC.AZ informs with the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).

Total car sales in the EU for Jan-Oct increased by 16.7% compared with the 2022 same term and reached 8.795 million. In general, in Europe, they also increased by 16.7% - to almost 10.723 million cars.

According to the ACEA, in three of the four largest national automotive markets, annual growth in October was double-digit. And if in Germany it was modest — 4.9%, then in France the number of registered new cars increased by 21.9%, in Italy — by 20.0%, in Spain — by 18.1%.

Annual growth in Italy for the first 10 months was 20.4%, Spain — 18.5%, France — 16.5% and Germany - 13.5%.

In October 2023, the share of electric vehicles powered by batteries was 14.2% compared with 12% a year earlier.
