October 23, Fineko/abc.az. Toyota extended production shutdown to 10 car assembly lines at six factories in Japan due to shortage of components after an explosion at a key supplier.

ABC.AZ reports that an explosion occurred at the Chuo Spring Co plant in Fujioka in north-central Aichi Prefecture, as a result of which the building was damaged.

The automaker has 14 assembly plants in Japan, producing cars for sale on the domestic market and for export.

The automaker said it had difficulty purchasing springs for suspension systems and other devices for several models, including RAV4 and Landcruiser SUVs, after an explosion at a factory owned by Chuo Spring injured two workers.

The cause of the accident that occurred in the steel cooling shop of the plant is being investigated.
