October 9, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (under the Ministry of Digital Development & Transport) is strengthening control over cargo transportation for commercial purposes.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the ALTA that an electronic bill of lading must be issued for internal transportation of goods of commercial purpose by road, unless otherwise provided by the cargo transportation agreement. Transportation of goods for commercial purposes in the absence of a bill of lading is not allowed. In this regard, rules have been established concerning the form, procedure for the application, accounting and use of an electronic consignment note.

The electronic bill of lading, issued within the framework of the ALTA information system, envisages the electronic processing of documents necessary for cargo transportation. This will save the resources of the shipper, carrier and receiver due to their coordination in single electronic space. E-registration of the consignment note will also create ample opportunities to increase transparency of cargo transportation.
