October 6, Fineko/abc.az. Baku and Tehran have reached an agreement on the construction of new bridges in Zangilan district and on the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which will allow establishing regular land communication with Nakhchivan through Iran.
ABC.AZ reports that Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev told about this to journalists in Zangilan.
Mustafayev noted that in particular, issues of development of transport links between the two countries will be discussed during the visit of Iranian Minister of Roads & Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash to Azerbaijan.
According to Mustafayev, cargo transportation between Azerbaijan and Iran increased by 41% in 8 months of this year.
"The transit traffic, in turn, grew by 47%. The volume of traffic along the North-South transport corridor also increased by 57%," Mustafayev said.
The Deputy PM stressed that after Azerbaijan's victory in the 44-day Patriotic War, new realities have developed in the region, including new opportunities for development of the transport and logistics sector.
He added that measures are being taken to simplify transport links with the NAR, in particular, for transportation of goods. Thus, an agreement was reached with Tehran on the construction of new bridges near Agbend village of Zangilan district and on the territory of the NAR, Mustafayev said.
