September 25, Fineko/abc.az. With the introduction of the new Law on Public Procurement in Azerbaijan from January 1, 2024, it is planned to organize and conduct 100 percent of public procurement using digital platforms.

ABC.AZ reports that this was stated by the head of the State Service for Antimonopoly Control and Supervision of the Consumer Market under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan Mammad Abbasbeyli during event "Artificial Intelligence in the New-Generation Economy: Challenges & Opportunities" at the conference dedicated to the "Application of Technologies of the IV Industrial Revolution in the National Economy" within the Azerbaijan’s Socio-Economic Growth 2022-26.

"The draft law has been prepared in accordance with international practice, and at the moment all processes and negative aspects have been evaluated based on opinions received from government organizations and the market. As a result, from January 1, all public procurement in Azerbaijan will be carried out using digital platforms. The benefits from this will be great. We approach this from the point of view of supporting the development of entrepreneurship. We believe that digitalization introduced by the new law will be useful not only in terms of accessibility and transparency, but also in terms of the emergence of alternative, more effective and efficient solutions based on deep data on public procurement. At the moment we are at the final stage of improving the electronic platform for public procurement. We are working with partner companies to identify defects in public procurement using artificial intelligence," Abbasbeyli said.

He emphasized that creation of a service platform and a public service quality platform is at the final stage.

"After introduction of these platforms, all the activities of the service will be digitized," he stressed.
