September 14, Fineko/abc.az. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is on the verge of bankruptcy.
ABC.AZ reports that bankruptcy is caused by debts to Boeing and Airbus.
Because of non-payment, these companies have stopped supplying spare parts to PIA and millions of rupees are being lost every day due to limited airline flights.
One PIA aircraft at Dammam Airport and four planes at Dubai Airport were stopped because of non-payment for fuel, and flights were allowed only after a PIA written guarantee.
PIA flights may be suspended if emergency financial assistance in the amount of $77.8 million is not provided by September 15.
On the other hand, sources also reported that PIA employees cannot receive their salaries.
