August 22, Fineko/abc.az. The European Union sent a new tranche of €1.5 billion to Kyiv as part of the macro-financial assistance program for Ukraine for the current year, ABC.AZ reports
"Today we paid a new €1.5 billion to Ukraine. And more will come, this year and beyond," EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on X, formerly Twitter.
According to her, these funds are aimed at maintaining the functioning of the country in the context of the conflict with Russia.
"We are supporting Ukraine in its efforts to repair, recover and keep the state running," she added noting that the EU stands in solidarity with Ukraine.
The European Union agreed on a program of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine for 2023 in the amount of €18 billion.
