In Europe, sales of electric vehicles exceed sales of diesel-fueled cars

July 19, Fineko/abc.az. The number of electric vehicles sold in the European Union (EU) in June exceeded the sales of diesel-powered cars for the first time, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).

ACEA statement says that the share of electric vehicles from the total number of automobiles sold in June was 15.1% (about 158,000 cars out of just over 1 million vehicles), while diesel-powered cars made up only 13.4% (about 140,000 cars) of all sales.

ACEA stressed that the number of electric vehicles sold "exceeded the sales of diesel cars for the first time", electric cars became the "third most popular" type of personal vehicles in the EU.

The 1st place is still occupied by cars with gasoline engines (36.3%), followed by hybrid cars (24.3%).
