Minister: Taxi drivers' working hours to be reduced

16:52 - 12.06.2023

June 12, Fineko/abc.az. Our goal is not to reduce the number of taxis, but to lower the number of taxi rides.

ABC.AZ reports that Minister of Digital Development & Transport Rashad Nabiyev stated about this at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Economic Policy, Industry & Entrepreneurship.

The minister said that taxi aggregators are already sharing their data:

“When we look at this data, we see that most taxi rides are 1.5-3 km away. Although, this distance can be walked or by public transport. We can ensure the passage of public transport through the places of residence of the population. We see many such trips in the center of Baku. About 67,000 taxis are operating in Baku today. Their average working time is 14-15 hours. With today's regulation of the new law, we’ll reduce their working hours to 8 hours a day. This will improve the quality of taxi operations. We believe by reducing the working hours of these workers, some regulation of prices in the market, they will not be deprived of either income or work.”
