June 7, Fineko/abc.az. The U.S. government has confirmed that all Tesla Model 3 cars are now eligible for $7,500 tax breaks for electric vehicle consumers after only two of the three versions were eligible for half of this credit.
ABC.AZ reports that in April, new rules for the use of batteries came into force, which reduced the credit for Model 3 Standard Range Rear Wheel Drive and Long Range All-Wheel Drive to $3,750.
Last week, Tesla announced on its website that all versions of Model 3 are again eligible for full credit. The government has confirmed the changes on its website fueleconomy.gov.
The cost of Model 3 starts at $40,240, and the price can drop to $25,240 with a federal tax credit of $7,500 and another $7,500 with a tax discount in California, depending on income and other requirements. Toyota's Camry is priced from $26,320 and up.
The change in subsidies, as well as aggressive discounts, should help Tesla support sales of its core Model 3, demand for which has declined due to large-scale upgrades this year, economic uncertainty and growing competition.
