April 17, Fineko/abc.az. The first orbital flight of the prototype of superheavy spacecraft Starship, scheduled for Monday, may be postponed.
ABC.AZ reports that SpaceX owner Elon Musk informed about this on his Twitter account.
"There is high probability that the flight will be postponed because we’ll be very careful with the launch," Musk said in a broadcast to subscribers.
The businessman noted he would like to lower expectations before the launch.
"If we manage to get away from the launch pad before something goes wrong, it will already be considered a success," Musk said.
Currently, the prototype of the rocket is located on a private SpaceX launch pad in the area of the settlement of Boca Chica (Texas). The launch is scheduled for 08:00 local time (17:00).
If successful, the prototype should reach altitude of 150 miles (more than 241 km) above the Earth's surface. It is expected that the device will re-enter the atmosphere near the Hawaiian Islands. The ship should land an hour and a half after launch.
