April 14, Fineko/abc.az. The EU is preparing to introduce the 11th package of sanctions against Russia.
ABC.AZ reports that Mairead McGuinness, the European Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability & Capital Markets, said this in an interview for CNBC on Thursday.
"Europe has imposed 10 packages of sanctions. There will be another one," she is quoted as saying on CNBC's website.
The European Commissioner noted that the 11th sanctions package will be aimed primarily at combating attempts to circumvent restrictive measures.
"It is necessary to make sure that they (Russia) will not have the opportunity to circumvent our sanctions," she stressed.
Earlier, the European edition of newspaper Politico reported that the EU will begin discussing the introduction of the 11th package of sanctions after the Catholic Easter, which was celebrated last weekend. The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, previously stated that the 11th package of sanctions will be aimed at countering various methods of circumvention.
