12:39 - 7.03.2023

March 7, Fineko/abc.az. "The number of people has increased by half a million, and the number of animals has decreased by a million. In particular, the number of farm animals has fallen to the lowest level in the last 10 years," ABC.AZ reports, citing expert economist Eldaiz Amirov in his Facebook account, when commenting on the rise in meat prices.

Referring to the statistical committee, the expert noted that as of 1 January 2023, the number of cattle in Azerbaijan amounted to 2.62 million, and small - 7.77 million. Whereas in 2016, the number of cattle was 2.70 million and small cattle — 8.67 million:

"In general, we see that in 7 years the number of animals has decreased by one million heads. The population increased by more than 500,000 people compared to 2016, increasing from 9.7 million to more than 10.2 million. So, the number of people in our country has increased by half a million people over the past 7 years, and the number of animals has decreased by a million heads."
