Food inflation exceeds 17% in UK

March 1, Fineko/abc.az. The annual food inflation rate in the UK reached 17.1% in February.

ABC.AZ reports that such data is published by international marketing research agency Kantar.

According to the data, the annual level of food inflation is the highest in the last 45 years.

"For people, the rise in food prices is the second most important financial issue after the cost of electricity. Two-third of the population is concerned about the prices of food and beverages," Kantar reported.

According to the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS), the last time the annual level of food inflation in the country exceeded 17% in 1977, amounting to 17.6%.

A year ago, the ONS estimated this figure at 4.3%.
