Record deficit registered in Turkiye's foreign trade

February 28, Fineko/abc.az. At the end of January, a record deficit was formed in Turkiye's foreign trade, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Turkish statistical organization (TÜIK).

The foreign trade data for January showed that imports increased by 10.3% compared with the same month of the previous year to $19.369 bn, and imports by 20.7% to a record level of $33.606 bn.

As a result, the negative balance of the foreign trade deficit amounted to $14.237 bn (38% more than in January of the previous year). If in January 2022 the ratio of exports to imports was 63%, this year this indicator has decreased to 57.6%. This is the lowest figure since April 2013.
