February 22, Fineko/abc.az. Colima, the capital of the state of the same name in western Mexico, has become the most dangerous city in the world by the end of 2022.

ABC.AZ reports that experts of the Mexican non-governmental organization "Civil Council for Public Safety & Criminal Justice" came to this conclusion in their latest rating.

Last year, the murder rate in Colima was 182 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

"This is the third highest figure since 2009, when we started conducting research covering the 50 most dangerous cities in the world with a population of more than 300 thousand people. The record belongs to the Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez, where in 2010 it reached 229 murders per 100 thousand inhabitants," the authors of the rating noted.

According to the compilers of the rating, 17 of the 50 most dangerous cities in the world are located in Mexico, 10 in Brazil. The USA, Colombia, South Africa and Honduras were represented by 7, 6, 4 and 2 localities, respectively.

Major cities in Europe and Asia are not included in the list.
