December 21, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan has sharply reduced cotton exports in the first 11 months of 2022.

ABC.AZ was informed at the State Customs Committee that the country exported 70,819 tons of cotton fiber and 7,984 tons of cotton yarn for Jan-Nov 2022 (versus 117,239 tons of cotton fiber and 16,851 tons of yarn for Jan-Nov 2021).

Compared with 2021, cotton fiber exports decreased by 46,420 tons, or 40%.

The value of exported cotton fiber amounted to $163.05 million. Compared with 2021, this is 14% less.

The cause why the number of exports exceeds the cost is that each ton of cotton is sold at 42% more expensive than a year earlier.

If for Jan-Nov 2021 Azerbaijan exported cotton fiber abroad at $1,623.6 per ton, this year this figure has grown to $2,302.3.

It turns out that this year Azerbaijan receives $678.7 of additional income for every ton of cotton versus the previous year.
