December 13, Fineko/abc.az. In many cases, they go and bring medicine to the country, we cannot skip the medicine in large quantities. Believe me, those who deliver 2-3 boxes of "aspirin", customs officers do not say a word.
ABC.AZ reports that State Customs Committee’s first deputy chairman, acting chairman Shahin Bagirov stated about this at a meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Economic Policy, Industry & Entrepreneurship.
He added that there are also medicines that need to be considered: "As for prices, they are not related to customs. There are no customs duties on medicines, there is only VAT. VAT is also small. Medicines can be exempt from VAT."
Bagirov noted that pharmaceutical companies want their imported medicines to be immediately sent to warehouses.
“In Azerbaijan, there are limits set by the Tariff Council in connection with drug prices. If the price exceeds this limit, it's another matter. The difference between Turkiye and Azerbaijan is that they produce many medicines themselves. In addition, Turkiye is in a Customs Union with the EU. Therefore, it is necessary to ask about this from companies engaged in the sale of medicines. However, the customs authorities have no influence on the increase in the cost of medicines,” Bagirov said.
