Food shortage increases in France

November 5, Fineko/abc.az. The level of food shortages in supermarkets and hypermarkets in France increased by 5.8% in October.

ABC.AZ reports that this indicator turned out to be 1.7 pp higher compared to the data for the 2021 same period.

Various categories of food have become the most difficult to access for French citizens. The deficit level in this segment was 2 pp higher compared to the data for the same period in 2021.

The gap indicator in the food category also increased by 2 points compared to October 2021, which is the strongest observed increase compared to September.

This trend, in particular, is explained by the shortage of salad dressings and cold sauces, such as mustard.
