Export of Azerbaijan-made wine and alcohol to Russia to be simplified

October 18, Fineko/abc.az. The export of excisable goods produced in Azerbaijan to Russia is being simplified.

The Azerbaijan Export & Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) reports by a decision from 7 October 2022 the Russian government determined the point of registration of excisable goods at automobile customs checkpoint Yarag-Kazmalyar on the border with Azerbaijan, and this will allow Azerbaijani companies to increase exports of wine and alcoholic beverages.

Previously, the absence of a special customs post for the clearance of excisable goods on the Azerbaijani-Russian border created difficulties in expanding the export of wine and spirits to the Russian Federation, which is considered one of the traditional markets for Azerbaijani products, led to an increase in the cost of exported products, loss of time and reduced competitiveness.

Taking this into account, this issue was raised from time to time at meetings between the relevant institutions of Azerbaijan and Russia dedicated to the creation of an excise post, measures were taken through various platforms to speed up the process.
