After Kinder, bacteria found in Oreo, Mikado and Pepito products

August 29, Fineko/abc.az. American company Mondelez, manufacturer of Oreo, Mikado and Pepito, following Kinder, has closed 3 production sites due to the possibility of salmonella in its products, ABC.AZ reports citing foreign media.

Swiss cocoa and chocolate maker Barry Callebaut has reportedly warned Mondelez that its products may contain salmonella bacteria.

To prevent a similar salmonella scandal that occurred with Kinder Ferrero products, Mondelez reportedly closed some of its units, and some completely, at 3 large production sites that also produce Oreo cookies.

Company executives say the "big purge" was the reason for the closure, but Le Figaro suggests the salmonella warning was the main reason.

Nutritionists attribute the recent appearance of salmonella and similar bacteria in consumer products to the fact that manufacturers have become "more economical."

So, manufacturers use cheap ingredients to save money.
